Post Unable to read 4 bytes error, when switching from Linux clie
Hello backuppc-users,

Don't know if there's much you can do with this, but i thought I would
mention an odd error I got today.

PC16 is regularly backed up in Linux via rsync. Works fine. But the PC is a
dual boot, with Windows. The user spend more time in linux but some
time in windows.

I got the error below when it tried to back up the pc, but in Windows.
The windows install does not require backing up, and thus, has no
rsync, etc installed.

But Backuppc cannot identify this properly and just comes back with
the below :-

# Last error is "Unable to read 4 bytes".
# Pings to pc16 have succeeded 6 consecutive times.

I had no idea what this meant, until the pc user mentioned that he had
been using the PC in Winblows.

This is the full log.

Contents of log file /mnt/backup/backuppc/pc/pc16/XferLOG.bad.z, modified 2004/3/11 11:00:02 (Extracting only Errors)

Running: /usr/bin/ssh -q -l root pc16 /usr/bin/rsync --server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group --devices --links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive . /home/
Xfer PIDs are now 11005
Read EOF: Connection reset by peer
Tried again: got 0 bytes
Read EOF:
Tried again: got 0 bytes
Done: 0 files, 0 bytes

Would there be anything that could be done in backuppc to identify
this situation and may the error less cryptic? I imagine many others
have dual boot pc's that may encounter the same situation some time.
