Are you using quotes?

$Conf{ClientNameAlias} = '192.168.1.2';

or

$Conf{ClientNameAlias} = 'host.domain.com';

are ok but this is not:

$Conf{ClientNameAlias} = 192.168.1.2;

Perl doesn't given an error: 192.168.1.2 in perl is a way of specifying
bytes in a string.
