Hello,
First of all, thanks for Backuppc. I have been using it for over a year
now and it works great for me!
Second is more a suggestion/comment: today I installed backuppc on a
new machine and I had some problems configuring the web interface.
I searched on the web and found an alternative to running apache+mod_perl
etc: w3m (text browser) allows the local execution of cgi scripts.
The backuppc cgi script seems to work all right with it!
Everything can be done remotely: ssh in the server, log as backuppc and then:
export REMOTE_USER=username
w3m /usr/lib/w3m/BackupPC_Admin.cgi
and that's it. It's almost like a standalone interface.
No need to install/run apache or open another port in the firewall on the
server.
Maybe this solution could be suggested in the documentation for the people
like me that are apache illiterate...
thanks
philippe
