Hi Jummo

try running:

update slots storage=TL4000-Storage drive=0

then recheck the output of:

status slots storage=TL4000-Storage drive=0

Whenever you add/remove tapes you will need to run this command.

I set up all of our clients systems with a Job of type "Admin" which basically
just runs the appropriate "update slots" command which is scheduled along
with the rest of the nightly jobs but with a higher priority so it runs first.

Did you label the tapes? If the volumes are not in the catalog, then all
you are seeing is the barcode. To save time, work with one slot and/or
volume then apply across all of the tapes.

Post bconsole status slots wrong output

Did you label the tapes? If the volumes are not in the catalog, then all

Hi Patti,

some of the tapes are labeled and some aren't. The barcode is correctly
recognized by the "udpate slots" or "mtx-changer" commands e.g.
"000016L5". The problem are the information displayed from "status slots"
are complety wrong. In the ouptut from "status slots" is the volume name
of slot 31 displayed as "000005L5" but the correct volume name is
"000018L5" as shown by mtx-changer command. This volume (00018L5) is in
the catalog and labeled from bacula as shown in "update slots" command.

Post bconsole status slots wrong output
I have now run 'update slots scan' from bconsole and the output shows the
loading of every tape with the correct label. But the 'status slots'
command' is still wrong.

Where comes the information for 'status slots' from? What could be broken?
How can I get more debugging information to isolate the root cause?

Thanks,

- Jummo
