I've decided I'm going to install gnome the LOOOONNGG way... from source.
And configure bacula that way. I still would like bconsole to work remotely
though. any suggestions? As far as I know... I've followed the user guide
on install and setup and bconsole should technically be working but isn't.
I've also noticed that when I did the configure.... bconsole.conf didn't
create itself. I had to copy the 1 from the source and move it over then
config to match my passwords and such.... why would it say bconsole isn't
installed properly when it seems like it is?
Hmm... what does the config file look like? And if you're sure the
configuration is ok, it might be worth trying to run bconsole through
strace so you see why it complains. For example, permissions might
prevent the program from reading the configuration file.

Have you tried /sbin/bconsole -c /root/bacula/bin/bconsole.conf yet?
Arno
Not in /etc but it's in /sbin which I thought might be it. Failure.
So I can't run it from the /root/bacula/bin which is where my
sysconfigdir was pointed. I can't run it from /sbin/bconsole for
whatever reason.. So I'm pretty much SOL unless I didn't do a
./configure option right which I don't think I did. There a newer
version than 2.2.7 out there.?

I'm following along in the bacula setup guide. I got the backups to
work on the test. My volume is wrong still and I wanted to
update/change the volumes and finalize my backup schedule. Small
problem with that.
./bconsole
bconsole not properly installed.
[root < at > sserv001 bin]#
I did the configure as the following...
CFLAGS="-g -Wall" \
./configure \
--sbindir=$HOME/bacula/bin \
--sysconfdir=$HOME/bacula/bin \
--mandir=$HOME/bacula/bin \
--enable-smartalloc \
--enable-gnome \
--with-qwt=$HOME/bacula/depkgs/qwt \
--enable-bwx-console \
--enable-console \
--enable-tray-monitor \
--with-pid-dir=$HOME/bacula/bin/working \
--with-subsys-dir=$HOME/bacula/bin/working \
--with-mysql \
--with-working-dir=$HOME/bacula/bin/working \
exit 0
I also had the email bit in there but took that out for my own
reasons. So I type in ./bconsole and get a failure saying it's not
properly installed. Is there a switch or something I missed? I'm
on FC8 RH Linux. Everything else seems to be fine but this.
As a side note I'm SSH'd into the server remotely. I also am
attempting to configure Webmin to operate Bacula as well but without
the console working properly that's not possible. I checked
passwords and they match. Out of ideas as to why the console thinks
its not installed properly when I believe it is. Suggestions?
