Post Tape unloads immediately after load
Hi,

I needs to restore files from tape, but this time without success,
because the needed tape can not be loaded for action. After loading
the tape, it get's unloaded immediately:

Job: Restore.2011-12-08_08.31.47_28
Storage: "Drive-1" (/dev/nst0)
Pool: Tapearchive
Media type: LTO-5
...

I have tried to solve this, but bacula is stubbornly denying any
cooperation.

What can be the reason for this strange behaviour?
What can I do, to fix this?

Many thanks,
Uwe

What happens if you try to load the tape by hand, i.e. by means of a mtx
load 3, and try to read it afterwards, i.e. by dding the tape device to
/dev/null? Be sure to umount the tape before trying to read.

Everything looks OK, but if I try a restore the "normal" way, the
load-unload game is starting again.

Can it be a catalog problem? However, dbcheck shows no problems.

And, by the way, I am using Debian/Squeeze with 5.0.2 (forget to tell
yesterday).

Many thanks,
Uwe

Sorry, but you did not do it by hand Wink. And what I can see from the logs
you mailed, it's the tape in slot 3 that gets rejected.

Please, try to load that tape outside of bacula by means of mtx, try to
read some sectors by means of dd. I'd assume, the tape is bad, so that the
tape drive simply refuses to load it.

Dietz
