time to consider bacula, again
Author Message
Post time to consider bacula, again
regretfully, the last time i tried bacula, i was not able to get a job to run.
i had the daemons talking, but alas, i was defeated (by what detail, i have
no idea).

i see in the supported operating systems page, that:

Windows Vista VSS (Volume Shadow Copy) is reported not to work with Bacula.

what about just regular file backups? thats really all i need at this time.
unfortunatly, NetBackup (5.1 at least...) isnt going to be supporting vista
any time soon, and vista is beginning to pop up on my machines (heh, didnt
mean to make that sound like i wasnt the one popping up the vistas Smile. but if
i can get bacula to take a backup of some a vista box, this will pave the way
for further updates, and finally lead me away from software borrwed from my
office. (uh... for learning purposes, of course!)

also, in my quest to finally get bacula running, ill hope to set up a backup
to disk, which will then be written to a tape library (HP surestore 1/9, 9
slot DLT4). i dont think i got very far with the library last time, have
there been any good howto's written on how to get a tape library working with
bacula?

cheers,

AFAIK, there is a big chapter in the manual on it that should be more
than sufficient. As for specific cookbooks or anything like that, you'd
have to use Google. I'm not sure that anyone has written one.
