Post Anyone using Snapbackup with Clariion?
Hi All.

I am interested t hear any bad/good stories about Snap backup implementation with Clariion. I have been enduring a 3 month epic with EMC/Commvault support trying to prove to myself that this feature actually works.

I keep getting passed from one vendor to the next, licensing issues and so on.

I am slowly loosing faith….!!

Kind regards,

Colin Laurie

Post Anyone using Snapbackup with Clariion?
Colin,

We recently implemented SnapBackup on Clariion for a customer. There's a bunch of utilities to install, from memory you will need:

Nav CLI
EMC Powerpath
Navisphere Solutions Enabler

We experienced some issues where the original contractor installed the 32bit binaries for Nav CLI on the 64-bit host and we got some "DLL missing or corrupt" messages in the backup logs. The lesson there was to stick with the binaries appropriate to your OS flavour.

I've got more details on how we completed the install if required.

Regards

Rowan Gillson

Hi Rowan,

Thanks for the reply. I already have the three utilities installed you mentioned.

I am seeing a ‘Failed to mount shadow’ error 75% into the backup progress. I already have a lengthy support ticket open with CV, so fingers cross they can come up with something.

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Colin

My experience was using Proxyhost and snapshots on the SAN. Worked great.

The process was smooth, if not a bit complicated at the start. Look into it if you find that option interesting.
