We currently use 64kb block size for dedupe on all our storage policies except for VMware where we use 32kb.
We do this because at the time we setup the policies it was the recommendation from Commvault.
I'm in the process of building up a new MA and the current recommendation according to the Building Blocks white paper is to use 128kb block size.
What are the pros and cons of this please?
I'm already wavering over whether to migrate the existing data to the new MA via aux copy or just start from scratch, and if the suggestion is to change the block size used for dedupe that also throws a question up as to the best time to change the block size.
Our clients are all FS iDA's with the exception of Exchange and VMware.
Thanks,
Paul
