Backup Central

Hello,

Is it possible to manually convert the next backup to a full backup, when, according to the schedule policy, an incremental backup will be made.

I am familiar with any workaround to do so.

We are using Commvault 8 at the moment.

I don't know if there's a deliberate command to do it. I just change its storage policy, then change it back. When you do the storage policy change, it will ask if you want your next backup converted to a full.

I usually just schedule a one-time full backup to start a couple of minutes before the Incremental backup would normally start. That way the full backup jumps in the queue, then when the Schedule Policy runs to start the Incremental backup it sees the existing Full backup in the queue already and it discards the Incremental. Then there is nothing to go back and fix later.

Sure, the easiest way to promote the next backup to a full is to enter the Subclient Properties and change the Storage Policy to something else and back again.

When you click OK, a window pops up asking to make the next backup a Full.

Hello
You can do a dirty one, reassign the agent to another storagepolicy and then assign it back to the old one.
Then you will get a question if it should convert next one to a full.

There is a qscript available on the commserver under Program
FilesCommvaultSimpanaScripts folder called PromoteToFullbyId.sql that can
be used to convert the next incremental to full backup. Only thing is that
you need to know the subclient id. I am not sure it can be obtained other
than querying the Commserv database.

Syntax is qoperation execscript -sn PromoteToFullByID -si <subclient id>.

Is it possible to manually convert the next backup to a full backup, when,
according to the schedule policy, an incremental backup will be made.

I am familiar with any workaround to do so.

We are using Commvault 8 at the moment.
