I'm trying to understand how much disk space is really required for our storage policies. My primary disk is 21 TBs but we have Dedup and managed disk space both enabled. When looking at the available reports I just get confused because of these options.
My goal is to determine though how much disk space on average is needed to meet our 30 days worth of retention. I am pretty sure we are far exceeding that retention, but I can't tell by how much.
Based on the Storage Policy report... my dedup storage is only using 11 TBs:
Total Size
Size of app: 41362.20 GB
Size after Dedup: 11482.07 GB
Size on Disk: 11482.07 GB
Dedup rate: 72.24%
Yet when I look at the storage information report it shows 19 TBs in use:

(some of this might be attributed to other storage polices not deduped for testing but even then this seems high)
Finally the data retention forecast report just confuses me more by breaking down storage like this:

MB to Free 14462077.33 (labeled: Managed Disk Space Option Enabled for Prunable Job on Disk Media)
MB to Keep 17588408.17 (labeled: Unprunable Job / Unrecyclable Media)
My storage policy is set with the appropriate retention. But between dedup and managed disk space I can't actually tell how much space is needed, versus how much is just being used because it can be used. Any thoughts or suggestions about interpreting this data. Ideally I want a single report that says based on 30 days retention with dedup you need a minimum of X storage.
