CommVault is Simpana 7 updated to SP5 and latest patches which are downloaded by "Download Updates" in CommCell.
The following problem occurs, we have several drives to backup on a fileserver.
Data Classification is installed
The following subclients are available:
default has \ (48 GB)
Drive P has P:\ (250 GB)
Drive Q has Q:\ (1.3 TB)
Drive R has r:\ (480 GB)
Drive Q is a drive with a lot of user data of about 1.3 TB
Space used by user directories is about 1.15TB and a backup takes about 65 hours.
So we want to make for each regularexpression of an user on this drive a subclient to shorten the backup time and spread it over the days of the week.
We have made a subclient Q for users Q* in Q:\Users\Homes\Q* the size is about 200 MB in size (smallest size to backup)
When we use this subclient, a whole scan on drive Q:\ (volume) is made, not only for Q:\Users\Homes\Q*, the backup will take about 9 hours to complete for a full backup of about 200 MB.
The scan for this subclient is the same as whole drive Q:\ (volume), when we want to make for each regular expression of an user a subclient we have about 26 times a 7 hour scan of drive Q:\.
Is it possible to scan only for an extra subclient the directory which you want to backup, not the whole drive Q:\ (volume).
