Post eject tape after scheduled job
Hi,
I am trying to find where I could eject a tape after a scheduled job. This on on Commvault 8 with a standalone LT03 tape drive. It seems like this should be possible, but I cannot find anywhere to do it. Can this be done and how?

Thanks,
Chris

The way I do this is using the vault tracker policies.

I set up four policies, 1 for each case I use to take offsite (I'll ignore the archive case for now). All these cases select the exact same criteria (full tapes) and I attach a schedule to each of these cases, I define the schedule to run every day on every fourth week for each case. So essentially I have 4 different schedules attached to 4 different vault tracker policies.

Doing it this way then tells me where all of my tapes are, so if I have a restore it tells me it is in location 'case 4'.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> If I go to my Schedule Policy Details/Advanced Backup Options, there is a Vault Tracking tab with a checkbox "Export media after job finishes". We are running v8 with VaultTracker, so YMMV.

Post eject tape after scheduled job
In the schedule policy, look under Job Options/Advanced/Vault Tracking.  You can export the media after the job finishes and set options for media status and location.

Cheers,

Patricia

In the options for the Schedule (either Schedule Policy or a regular schedule), under advanced options there should be a Vault Tracking tab. You probably have to be licensed for Vault Tracker to use this, but I’m not a licensing expert and I’ve never used a CommCell that wasn’t licensed for VT so I’m not sure. You can use that to export a tape or tapes from a library after a job completes.
