Post Failed to configure Commserve database
Hello all,

I was upgrading the commserve from 7 to 9 and got the message " Failed to configure Commserve database" at the end. I could not resume the setup or start over.

Does anyone know how to fix this error?

Many thanks!

Peter

Are you running the install from a UNC path or a mapped drive?  SQL Server doesn't like the install to run from \servernamemyinstallpath, is why I ask.

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> I ran into the same problem upgrading from 6-7; 7-8 and 8-9.
The best way to do the upgrade in my humble opinion is to install a new instance of Commcell with the same server name and then do a DR from your CommcellDR backup.
Our last upgrade from 8 to 9, we did also an upgrade of the OS to Win2k8 R2 and virtualized the Commcell to our VSphere farm. We ran the the DR procedure without any problem.
In our case the upgrade procedure doesn't seem to work so we always make sure to run CommcellDR before the upgrade than go to the motion of a DR. It is also a good exercise for your DRP.
Hope this helps you.From: Troy Whistman <troy.whistman < at > gmail.com>

I also heartily recommend (if you have the infrastructure) to make your Commserve a VM. VMware snapshots are so lovely to use if there are problems. Complete a step, snap. Complete another step, snap. Blows up in your face? Revert to previous snap.

No. I was not. I am guessing the sa's password provided was incorrect. I am not sure how to go about to correct it.
