Failed to Download VMX File

Post Failed to Download VMX File
Hi All,

I have an interesting issue here. ENvironment is as follows:

ESX 4.1 ( 4 hosts in HA setup )

vcenter 5.0

Commvault 9

When backing up VM ( Suse Linux ) it gives an error message "Failed to download vmx". using Vcenter itself to download the VMX file gives same error message. Using vcenter client and connecting directly to the ESX host who owns the VM works.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated

Nothing works on vcenter even if you are using Administrator level user. But connecting directly to the host using root account using vsphere client ( bypassing vcenter ) works. I have check from Vmware website forum and some customer seem to have issues with Vcenter 5 with Commvault

If your using W2K3 machine for VSA proxy, there is a known issue from VMware in downloading config file. If your using different server type, please escalate this issue.

Make sure your VSA is on a windows 2008 server with at least SP4b installed on the Commserve, media agent and the VSA.

Typically you will get an http 50x error. If you are on a 2003 system.

Thank you,
