Post File Not Found....
I am attempting to backup a Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 server. It is running version 9 with the current service pack installed.

When the backup completes it leaves 10000+ files. The files all state "The system cannot find the path specified" even though the files exist on the server.

I am new to commvault admin and need some assistance.

Thanks,

Dave

Try running a new full then a new incremental. It sounds like something with the index got messed up.

Post File Not Found....
Hi Dave,

May I know what type of files that claim to be missing? This files could be temporary files and disappear during backup phase.

Thanks and regards,
Wan Mohd Zarizie.

Take a look that you have enough free space on the client.
He save the index local and when you have not enought space he can't
gernerate the index for the backup.

When a full backup start he copy all date and save the data too the data base. But when you run a diff or inc he make a scan and generate local on the client a index. Then he take a look to the data base which data have changed and than he make only backup from this files.

When there is not enough space ... my be. Than he can't generate the index ... and so on.

Where are the index Files saved ?
--> Right click on the client in the simpana GUI --> proberties -->
Job configuration --> Job Configuration --> Job Results Directory

I hope this will help,

Best regards,

1. There is 4.87 gb of free space on the drive. It should be more then sufficient for the backup index.

2. I ran a new Full backup but it only backed up 2.83 mb of 30gb of data.

Post File Not Found....
SOLVED:

The server had an error on the properties page of the the C Drive "Shadow company provider not registered error: 0x80042304"

This caused the VSS Service to not be able to back up the server. Option 1 is to turn off VSS. Option 2 is to repair the service. Bellow are instructions from Microsoft on reregistering the service.

from a command prompt:

cd %systemroot%system32

net stop vss

net stop swprv

regsvr32 ole32.dll

regsvr32 vss_ps.dll

Vssvc /Register

regsvr32 /i swprv.dll

regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll

regsvr32 es.dll

regsvr32 stdprov.dll

regsvr32 vssui.dll

regsvr32 msxml.dll

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

regsvr32 msxml4.dll

Then, try reboot the server to see how it goes.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Dave

I am attempting to backup a Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 server. It is running version 9 with the current service pack installed.

When the backup completes it leaves 10000+ files. The files all state "The system cannot find the path specified" even though the files exist on the server.

I am new to commvault admin and need some assistance.

Thanks,

Dave
