Full back-up after restoring Exchange Database

Post Full back-up after restoring Exchange Database
Hello,

I have one question about the Exchange database restore. When I perform an out-of-place Exchange database restore, the next operation on the original database will be converted to a full back-up.

I understand the need of it, when performing an in-place restore.
Why is this the case when performing an out-of-place restore? Can I change settings to prohibit the conversion to a full backup?

I hope you can make this clear to me.
Thanks in advance.

Bart Donders

The behavior you are describing is addressed in Simpana 9. If you will be on v8 for some time and are running out-of-place restores on a regular basis then please escalate to CV support.

Okay... Thanks for the information...
I guess we will bring it to CV support then, while an upgrade to version 9 is not planned in the near future.

Post Full back-up after restoring Exchange Database
Well, thanks for the information... I guess we will have to go to Commvault Support...
We are running restores quite often and an upgrade to CV9 is not planned for the near future.

Regards, Bart

The behavior you are describing is addressed in Simpana 9. If you will be on v8 for some time and are running out-of-place restores on a regular basis then please escalate to CV support.

Hi,

We are using Commvault 8 to backup our Exchange 2003 environment.

Which version of the software are you using?
