iSCSI for maglibs?
Author Message
Post iSCSI for maglibs?
Is anyone using iSCSI-attached storage for their Maglibs? We're considering replacing our SAS-attached Dell MD3000 array with a newer model (MD3200) and are wondering if we should choose the iSCSI controllers rather than SAS. We use our Maglib as part of a disk-to-disk-to-tape policy (the tapedrives are FC-attached).

Any experience with an iSCSI array (Dell or other)? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Post iSCSI for maglibs?
We have been using an EMC AX4-5i iSCSI array for our disk based storage for about 2 years and for the most part like the results. I was going to replace it with the 3200i but went with the 3600i instead to get the 10 Gbps throughput. I don't have it yet, so I can speak to its performance, but the EMC has worked fine.

Initially we purchased dedicated TOE cards for our MA's but actually are just the regular nics now and they work fine...

Regards,
Erik
