Has anyone had any success installing the iDA on a Linux host in VMWare? I am attempting to push the install from the CommServe. It failed to discover the Linux VM by hostname so I tried the IP address. It discovers the IP address but fails with " Error Code: ][68:184] Description: Failed to install Base Package on client"

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Greg

I'd check the galaxy installer log on that client. We normally do client installs as Root, but many companies have a security flag that doesn't allow anyone to directly log in as root, you can only log in as someone else and then su - root. I forget the config file where that sits, but there's some configuration to allow direct root logins. that may be it?

Do you mean a physical server which is a host for VMware, or a VM with Linux installed? My guess is you're referring to the latter. If so, yes- I install Linux file iDA's all the time into VM's.

By any chance does the commserve or Linux servers have a hyphen or dash in the name?

Hi Greg,

Instead of pushing the agent for installation, have u try to ftp the installer into the linux vm and run ./cvpkgadd from the vm itself? I know the size of installer may be issue for certain condition, but we still can choose the related installer files e.g for linux only.

Thanks and regards,
Wan Mohd Zarizie
