I’ve been reading a very useful PDF titled “CommVault Building Block Configuration V9 White Paper”.
It lists a bunch of best practices and ideal configuration for Media Agents. Ours is being replaced shortly and I want to get it right.
We currently have several storage policies each using their own DDB. CommVault current best practice on dedupe is that:
“A Global Deduplication Storage Policy (GDSP) should be used instead of a standard deduplication storage policy whenever possible. A GDSP allows for multiple standard deduplication policies to be associated to it allowing for global deduplication across all associated clients.”
So, how do I get to this from where I am now please?
I’m assuming it makes more sense to do this when I have the new MA, but I’m hoping there is a way to migrate the data across to the new library, and convert to a global dedupe policy, without having to start with a true full (not Synthetic) backup of all my clients.
I’d be extremely grateful for any advice from anyone who has done this.
