Move tapes from one library to another?
Author Message
Post Move tapes from one library to another?
I have been looking through the commvault docs for the last couple days, and haven't yet found what I am looking for. We recently installed an automated tape loader into our environment, to speed up aux copies that our single tape drive had been doing previously.

My intent had been to add this second library and have the ability to read tapes from either lib, and write tapes via the autoloader. It seems now that tapes are only usable now for reads or writes to one or another library only- the lib it was originally associated with.

Can anyone confirm if my conclusion regarding this exclusivity of the tapes-to-lib relationship is correct, or are there ways to have both libraries recognize tapes from one pool of assigned, scratch, and exported tapes?

Post Move tapes from one library to another?
Tape to library relationship is not exclusive. Any library in the commcell will read the tape when it sees it in the drive and restore from it.
If you want to use tapes from one library in another for writing, you need to use gridstore feature and add the libraries as data paths in the storage policy.
