Question about Change Journal

Post Question about Change Journal
I have a customer that is running a Full on Friday and an incremental the rest of the week. However, every Tuesday night the "Size of Application" appears to be as large as the Full backup. So it looks as though CommVault thinks that everything has changed. Since the backupset is using the Change Journal, what other forces could cause a change like that? They used to use BackupExec to back up their data, but I've been told it has been turned off.

AntiVirus is my first choice for what else has been interfering with
Change Journal

Second choice is if you have any software that does content checks, or
provides search engine functionality

The list can go on from there..

Check your virus scanning. If you run weekly scans, they may be updating the change journal. There should be a setting or registry setting to prevent updating the change journal. Check with your virus scanning vendor.

Post Question about Change Journal
Does it do the same thing with "Classic Scan" turned on? If that's causing a full-sized incremental, then it's an outside program "flipping the bits" or touching the files. If it goes okay, it's possible that the application on this server doesn't like Change Journal.

Check your virus scanning. If you run weekly scans, they may be updating the change journal. There should be a setting or registry setting to prevent updating the change journal. Check with your virus scanning vendor.
