Restore to a different client and mediagent
Author Message
Post Restore to a different client and mediagent
I need to restore a whole bunch of tapes containing Full and Incr backups, however the original backup MA and client server are offline.
When I browse the job CV says "Failed to connect to Media Agent". Obviously because it's offline.
Is there anyway to retrieve/recreate the index so I can browse the backup? I only need to restore a subset of data, not everything on the tape. I don't have the disk space anyway to do a restore of all data.

Martin

General rules I use in this scenario:

BrowseWhen you go to perform the browse, change the media agent option from <Use Any Media Agent> to the specific MA you want Also enable Use Exact Index in the Advanced options

Performing Restore
Before you kick off the restore, go into Advanced options and set the Data Path tab to the specific library/MA

if use exact index isn't available in advanced, you can always toggle it on globally via control panel -> Browse and Recovery
