Backup Central

I know this has been discussed but for some reason I can't find it. I have a storage policy writing to disk then doing an aux copy to tape. Just bought a new SAN and want to start using it as my primary disk so I can start to use the current array for other things. (Current array is using fiber disks which I now realize is a waste of IOPS.)

Can someone walk me through the best process to add new array as secondary copy then promote it to primary and remove current primary from MA's? Running v.8 SP6.

Have you considered using "Move a Mount Path" as an option to aux copying the data?

Thanks Troy....On that note do you think it would also work if I used robocopy to backend copy the data to a new LUN then just suspended jobs and changed the drive letter to match what it expects to see?

I don't know... you could test it once your new SAN is in place, by setting up a small disk library on your old hardware, doing a  small backup, then testing your migration procedure.

Do you have gridstor license? If so, you can just add the new mag. Library datapath to the primary copy and make it the primary datapath. Go to the old mag. Library and mark the  mag. Lib path as read only so that it is not used for any new backups. Once the data retention is met for backups in the old library, you can simply delete the datapath and deconfigure the library.
