Hi,
I am using Simpana 9 for archiving together with Sharepoint 2007. In order to reduce the size of the Contentdatabase we would like to archive to a cheaper media using Simpana. The original file is replaced by a Stub.. which seems to be a small textfile which gives information about the archive.
If a Word document is archived all is well. The Stub (having the same filename as original) can be opened and interpreted.
If a PDF or PPT is archived it gets replaced by the same Stub as mentioned above, but the client applications Adobe Acrobat Reader or Powerpoint cannot interprete the content of the Stub which now has the suffix .pdf or .ppt.
This seems to be a real issue for my users, because they won't understand that the Stub is only a textfile. For them it seems that the file is corrupted, because it does not open in Powerpoint or Acrobat Reader.
Do you know a fix for this ? Can I get Simpana to produce the Stub in different fileformats (.ppt or .pdf)?
Thanks for feedback
Sven
