SQL Tape Restore Error: The media is already Reserved by som
The issue most likely is that you have 2+ streams of SQL backup that ended up on a single tape (secondary copy has lesser device stream than source copy via combine stream functionality of auxcopy). This works well for all other agents except SQL. SQL needs the same number of device to do the restore as the backup.
The only solution is to create a temporary magnetic copy “SQL-Restore Copy” as a selective copy with the secondary copy as source. Select the SQL job and auxcopy it to the magnetic copy and then restore will work fine.
If you wish you could attach this email with logs and commserver database for our review via a ticket to CV. But I am 99% sure that is the issue.

Simpana 8 with SP4. Trying to do a point-in-time SQL 2005 restore from tape (the backup has been aged off mag lib.). The restore will require a full restore and then replaying some transaction logs. One of the tapes get mounted but I receive the error "The media is already Reserved by some other Job[s]." The tapes aren't being used for any job that I can see and there are no other jobs running. I'm using a Quantum PX502 FC tape library with 2 LTO3 drives and tapes.
Obviously I can and likely will open a support ticket, but, with all due respect to support, it's just not a fun thing to do so would like to try here first.
