I have a on going issue where our tapes will not append data to them, in this example the tape has 3 Job ID's that have written to the tape the night before by a Aux Copy, the Aux Copy job had not finished and the total data used on the LTO 4 tape is 61GB out of a possible 1.6TB. I have checked all the Schedule Polices Advanced Backup Options that "Start New Media" and "Mark Media Full On Success" are not ticked. I have checked that the tape library has the "Mark Media Appendable" option ticked and the "Use appendable Media" within "14" days of last write time.
Additionally if I right click the tape in question there is not a option to "Mark the Medai Appendable" which suggests to me that it is appendable.
Has anyone got any ideas why the tape cannot be appended with additional backup data?
Once off this issue would not be concerning, however this is happening a lot and causing a lot of wasted tapes.
