I am freeing up space on a server, and while sleuthing with du -h , I've found that /opt/galaxy (installed from 7.0 days) is 700MB+ .

I can free up almost 500MB of that in /opt/galaxy/Updates . There are ~180 directories in here all beginning with linux_9.0.0B84_3**** . If I delete these, will my iDA no longer function, or are these just there because I've updated software in the past and the updates weren't removed when the process was complete?

I asked the same question of support, for a windows environment. Their answer was that the Updates-folder was needed if you wanted to roll back any updates of to re-implement some (if you installed newer updates that required it). They do not recommended to delete the folder. Don't think you will run into as much problem on a Linux though, since you shouldn't need the folder to uninstall updates, but you would probably need them for re-implementation. If you delete it you might end up in a scenario where your client doesn't function properly after newer updates.
