Backup Central

Is it worth defragging the Chunk files on our maglib?
Would it increase performance or a waste of time?
Running Diskeeper analysis suggests there is only moderate fragmentation, so I'm dubious.

At this current site I've got a defrag.bat/Scheduled Task running 9.30am to 4.30pm Mon-Fri (business hours are 8.30am-5.30pm Mon-Fri)

Initial defrag will always take a long while - basically you have to constantly run defrag to keep the system clean.  Also in part because defrag.exe isn't as good as say Diskeeper (takes longer to do its magic).

That said, I've used Diskeeper at a separate site and it was able to keep up in time with a heavy backup load, just for the current site im working at I can't justify the cost at the moment...

Diskeeper supposedly prevents fragmentation (after running a full defrag) by automatically moving blocks around if necessary before saving new blocks on the fly.
