Post backup question for EMC
My boss has a question:

Ask EMC if they can backup a Windows server 2008 R2 backup volume. These volumes are managed by Windows and are not visible to the Explorer shell like normal volumes are.

I thought it'd be easier to ask you folks.

I'm looking through Powerlink as well. I know NetWorker is capable of backing up Windows 2008 R2. We are doing that now. But you can create a special "backup" volume for Windows Backup that isn't part of the normal file system and is invisible to regular users. The question is can NetWorker backup the "backup" volume?

Post backup question for EMC
Hi,

What kind of volume is it? I guess it is raw partition , correct me please.
If you go through the Networker compatibility guide, it says Windows 2008
all version with FAT and NTFS partition only supported.

I think if its raw partition, then there is a way Networker support it.

Thanks & Regards

Post backup question for EMC
I would suggest using the NetWorker Procedure Generator.

After googling your issue W2k8R2 + Networker + backup volume, I got an
array of answers including ONE guy who said you could map the backup
volume giving it a letter assignment and then run a fullbackup to get it
to work.

I say again download the NetWorker Procedure Generator and enter your
data you WILL get the right answer.

Post backup question for EMC
Just in case its a raw partition:

*Backing up raw partitions on Windows:
*To back up a raw disk partition on Windows, specify the raw disk partition
in a save
set. Identify the raw partition as a physical drive or as a logical drive.
For example:
save -s NetWorker_server_name \\.\PhysicalDrive0
save -s NetWorker_server_name \\.\C:
