Exchange MB: Backup Question
Author Message
Post Exchange MB: Backup Question
Greetings, Still having MSEXCH:MB problems - Tru64 Unix/Networker
7.1/Exchange Module 4.02.

This morning, we put an account with Exchange Privledges into the Remote
User field of the Client resource, and along with it's password.

Here is what I see on the Networker server (daemon.log):

12/15/04 12:16:40 nsrd: savegroup info: starting ExchangeGroup (with 1
client(s))
12/15/04 12:16:48 nsrd: savegroup info: jcvsf-
exchange.jcvsf.corp:MSEXCH:MB: No full backups of this save set were found
in the media database; performing a full backup
12/15/04 12:28:44 nsrd: nfs-a.jtc.jcvsf.org:index:jcvsf-exchange.jcvsf.corp
saving to pool 'DiskPool' (DiskPool.001)
12/15/04 12:28:47 nsrd: nfs-a.jtc.jcvsf.org:index:jcvsf-exchange.jcvsf.corp
done saving to pool 'DiskPool' (DiskPool.001) 37 MB
12/15/04 12:28:47 nsrd: savegroup notice: ExchangeGroup completed, total 1
client(s), 0 Hostname(s) Unresolved, 0 Failed, 1 Succeeded.
12/15/04 12:29:25 nsrd: write completion notice: Writing to volume
DiskPool.001 complete

I don't see any messages in the sessions window on the Networker Server.

On the Exchange node, the process "nsrxchsv" process is very busy, and in
the /nsr/tmp directory, it is creating (then deleting) tmp files with the
name "nsrxchsv1234-0xx" where 1234 is the PID of the nsrxchsv process. They
grow to multiple MBs in size then are deleted until the next one is created.

I feel like we're getting closer, but still not there.

Thanks,
Randy

Post Exchange MB: Backup Question
After using the "verbose" mode on our ExchangeGroup, I was able to get
messages of the form of:

* jcvsf-exchange.jcvsf.corp:MSEXCH:MB Internal system error, please see
nsr\applogs\xbsa.messages on the client system for reason.

For each of the Mailboxes it had tried to backup. This xbsa.messages
file revealed that the account I had used in the Remote User field also
needed to added to the "Remote Access" field for the client. The backup
has now been running for over 3 hours, and hopefully this is it.

Randy
