Ok I am still having issues getting the nmm to work, if I let the system account run the networker service the backups will fail with error about rejecting the administrator-snapshot request.

I have the fqdn and short names in the admin list with all variations of system and administrator.  I have tried all upper case and all lower case.

I did notice that if I simply add the account system to the admin list with no client or hostname after it, I can get the backups to run.  This is not the way we want the admin list to be configured.  I do have other systems that are being successfully backed up with the NMM using the system account on the local machine.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I've the same issue. My Exchange 2010 mailbox hosts are dual-homed,
and backup over their secondary interfaces just fine after entering
all FQDN and shortnames for all interfaces as client aliases. But
none of those FQDN or shortnames work for administrator permissions
for NMM.

In the usergroups in the NMC add the system < at > hostname and
administrator < at > hostname. Replace hostname with the actual host.

Sadly, this is the part that doesn't work. I have all manner of
"hostname" for all interfaces entered in both this and user=,host=
format, for both shortname and fqdn. The host names are definitely
valid in DNS and also the client's host files.

I also receive this message periodically in daemon.raw:

39078 12/03/2011 04:38:00 PM 0 0 5 2636547840 13343 0
nsrserverhost.domain.tld nsrd RAP error: An unsuccessful attempt to
impersonate user administrator < at > nmchost.domain.tld was made by
root < at > nmchost.domain.tld. If root < at > nmchost.domain.tld can be trusted,
grant the user "Administrator" privileges on the NetWorker server

So maybe this is related....grrr.

Quick update for future Google sanity --

My hosts were all deployed from VMware templates, and had registered an invalid client name in nsrladb. After we deleted /nsr/res/nsrladb directory from all clients where authentication (whether for NMM or NMC purposes) was periodically or continuously failing, both NMM and NMC function correctly.

NEVER do this. Would you leave any Windows or Unix server without a
