Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server 2003

Post Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server 2003
The Windows guide (7x) talks about SPS 2001, but not 2003.

Does anyone have any experience with SPS 2003? Does Networker back it
up?

Sharepoint 2.0 would require the Sharepoint License. Windows 2003
Sharepoint does not use this license-it requires using SQL module for
backing up the Portal DB's.

Goal
-------
Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server (SPS) 2003 Backup and Recovery with SQL
Module

Fact
-------
Windows 2000

Fact
-------
NetWorker Business Module for SQL 4.0.1

Fact
-------
Sharepoint Server 2003

Fact
-------
Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Fact
-------
If using MSDE with Sharepoint products then SPS can not be backed up with
NetWorker

Fact
-------
The SPS databases can be backed up with the NetWorker SQL Module

Fact
-------
The SPS index must be backed up separately

Fix
-------
Backing up SPS databases with NetWorker:
1. Create a client entry for the SQL server in NetWorker with a saveset of
MSSQL: and a Backup command of nsrsqlsv.exe. This will backup all SPS
databases.
2. Run a full backup(databases and indexes) to file using spsbackup:
Create a client entry for the Portal server in NetWorker with a saveset of
All and a Backup command of savepnpc. Save a file with the following
content to the nsr/res folder on the SPS client.
type: savepnpc;
precmd: 'C:\Directory_path\bin\spsbackup.exe';
pstcmd: 'echo bye';
timeout: '12:00:00';
abort precmd with group: No:

Modify the precmd to specify the correct location of spsbackup.exe and the
destination for the backup files to be written. Note the entry following
the last / in this path specifies the prefix for the file names and is not
part of the path. Ensure this destination is included in the scheduled
backups.

2. Recovery process:
Restore the SPS datbases via NetWorker
Restore portal sites on the web server(s) via the SPS Central
Administration page.
Restore index via the SPS Data Backup and Restore tool.
Restore the single sign-on service and encryption key via the SPS Central
Adminstration page.
