NDMP Backup showing 0% in Monitoring View
For a quick band-aid, you should be able to check the progress from the BlueArc side by running 'ndmp-session-stats' from the command line; it'll tell you how much data has been scanned and sent.
For the Networker side of things, under 'application information' in the client definition (where you set the NDMP environment variables -- I don't have the GUI in front of me) -- do you have the following set?
UPDATE=y
HIST=y
DIRECT=y
I believe HIST=y is the one that will get you what you're looking for -- it tells the BlueArc to send file information back through the NDMP control channel so that NetWorker can update the client indexes, and should also show you progress of the backup. DIRECT=y is used when doing restores to let you use the HIST information to go to a specific file or files to restore, and UPDATE=y tells the BlueArc to create and rotate snapshots so that you can use leveled backups. (You don't need UPDATE=y if you're only ever doing full backups.)
See the NDMP section of the NetWorker Administrator Guide for more details; and for more NDMP variables you can set (though they may not be specifically useful for NetWorker), on the BlueArc SMU, see the file /usr/local/bin/adc.readme .
Hope this helps,

Hello All,
I'm new so please bare with me.
My company is running a networker server running, Networker 7.61, connected via fiber-to-SAN > SAN to quantum jukebox. This has been a problem that has constantly come up, but I have never been able to find the answer. Here's what's going on:
I have a an ndmp backup running on a SAN (bluearc) directory, that is approximately 4.3 TB in size. For all intent and purposes, the backup seems to be running properly because I can see its status as running in the Monitoring/Groups view. However, on the same line, where it shows % complete, it's at 0%.
In the Monitoring/Devices view, I can see that it has grabbed a tape and it is writing to it. I have watched it fill tapes to capacity and grab the next tape in the series. In the Monitoring/Save Sessions view I can see the save set is running on the correct directory, but again I see the size as being 0 KB.
I should note that it is using a virtual tape drive, but I don't think that is of consequence.
Can someone explain this to me?
Thx
