Hi,
I have been struggling with this ndmp error for over a month. I have a
netapp filer connected via
fiber to my spectralogic library 64000 (4 sony drives), and my networker
7.1.3 windows based=20
server drives this. I also have scsi drives connect which are working
fine. I have replaced:
fiber cable, fiber nic card, tapes, library firmware, and nw upgrade.
still I get this message and the backup fails.
does anyone have any ideas?=20
I get this on digest, so email direct if you have an idea, I am out of
ideas. thanks in advance,

Hallo Sharon,

please enter the following commands on the netapp filer

1) version
2) ndmpd version
3) ndmpd debug 7

Please run the backup again and post an extract of the message log (filer)
to the list (but only if it is small).
Send me the message log during backup directly if it happens to be too
large.

BUT before you do this, please check the load sleep and unload sleep timer
settings of the jukebox.
Not knowing the jukebox or drives I would suggest to increase the timers to
180 seconds at least.
It might be possible that networker does not wait long enough on a tape
change for the ndmp process/tape drive to complete loading/unloading. If
this works then you can experiment with setting the timers to a lower value,
starting with unload.
