Subject: Networker DNS/hosts file
I have a Networker client that's not in DNS but have the Networker servers,
storage node, etc. in the loal hosts file, will this work or does it still
need DNS entries, it's a W2K8 client.
Yes, this works great.
Just make sure the client is also in the hosts file of the NW Server and any Storage Nodes it may re-direct to.
Are you certain the client has to be in the /etc/hosts on the storage nodes? I question that
because my understanding and experience is that unless you are going to be issuing commands
(mminfo, nsradmin, ping, etc) from the storage node, that it doesn't care about anything beyond
connectivity to the client in question. That is (to over simplify), the NW server is the
brain and the storage nodes are the mindless servants who open up the port requested and accept
the traffic that flows on it.
