NMSQL problem

Post NMSQL problem
Hi all

Experiencing strange behavior with NMSQL.

Server: 7.6.2.681
Clients: 7.6.2.681
NMSQL: 5.2.2

Group: DBOffiste
Clients: 8
Pool: Offsite

Clients in the group have been configured with schedule DBOffsite (Full on Thu, skip rest of week)
Browse/retention: year/year
The group is selected on the pool resource.
Clients are only member of one group.

The group starts as scheduled, and writes Full backups to the Offsite pool.
But, for each client it also writes a small incremental backup to the Default pool, with year/year browse/ret.

As the backup run I follow it in the sessions window in monitoring.
The incremental is listed as belonging to the DBOffsite group in sessions window, but when I open the group results only Full backups are listed.

Any ideas ?

Thanks
Eivind

For testing try the backup of one client in a new group "test" and check
the behaviour.

Ok then, delete all the instances of one client and create it again and
test the backup.

Sounds like index saves actually, runnning to the deafult pool

to prevent that behaviour, add a backup server instans to the group, and
backup only 1 file. should do the trick..If I am right that is... Smile

Post NMSQL problem
Hi

Deleted group and clients
Created new group and clients

On 7 clients the incr saveset now goes to the Offiste pool
On 1 client the incr saveset still goes to the Default pool

And, the incr savesets are still not visible in group summary, but is present on media and visible during backup in the sessions window.

The incr saveset is MSSQL: and size is about 600 Bytes

Regards
Eivind

Hi all

Experiencing strange behavior with NMSQL.

Server: 7.6.2.681
Clients: 7.6.2.681

Group: DBOffiste
Clients: 8
Pool: Offsite

Clients in the group have been configured with schedule DBOffsite
(Full

Thu, skip rest of week)
Browse/retention: year/year
The group is selected on the pool resource.
Clients are only member of one group.

The group starts as scheduled, and writes Full backups to the
Offsite
pool.
But, for each client it also writes a small incremental backup to
the Default pool, with year/year browse/ret.

As the backup run I follow it in the sessions window in monitoring.
The incremental is listed as belonging to the DBOffsite group in
sessions

Any ideas ?

Please run the following command and let me know the result. I think that
incremental saveset is the metadata which holds the information for the
main saveset, so that data can be browsable while you perform recovery from
NMSQL GUI from the client. If this incr MSSQL: saveset isn't present, you
will not be able to browse the savesets.

Post NMSQL problem
Hi

I deleted one of the savesets in mention and it did indeed disappear from available backups in the restore list.
So it would seem this is the Metadata.

Eivind

ok now, if you want to test then delete this incremental saveset and try to browse the SQL db for restore.

NOTE: take a copy of res and mm before you delete this saveset or else you need to scan this saveset back to repopulate in media database.

Thanks & Regards

Please run the following command and let me know the result. I think that incremental saveset is the metadata which holds the information for the main saveset, so that data can be browsable while you perform recovery from NMSQL GUI from the client. If this incr MSSQL: saveset isn't present, you will not be able to browse the savesets.

mminfo -aq "client=<clientname>,savetime>12/01/2011" -r name,ssid,ssbrowse,ssretent,level,volume,sumflags

Ken should be right. However, I am interested to know what is the saveset showing for incremental backup?

Sounds like index saves actually, runnning to the deafult pool

to prevent that behaviour, add a backup server instans to the group,
and backup only 1 file. should do the trick..If I am right that is...

Ok then, delete all the instances of one client and create it again
and test the backup.

For testing try the backup of one client in a new group "test" and
check the behaviour. ****

Hi all

Experiencing strange behavior with NMSQL.

Server: 7.6.2.681
Clients: 7.6.2.681
NMSQL: 5.2.2

Group: DBOffiste
Clients: 8
Pool: Offsite

Clients in the group have been configured with schedule DBOffsite
(Full
on
Thu, skip rest of week)
Browse/retention: year/year
The group is selected on the pool resource.
Clients are only member of one group.

The group starts as scheduled, and writes Full backups to the
Offsite
pool.
But, for each client it also writes a small incremental backup to
the Default pool, with year/year browse/ret.

As the backup run I follow it in the sessions window in monitoring.
The incremental is listed as belonging to the DBOffsite group in
sessions
window, but when I open the group results only Full backups are listed.

Any ideas ?

Thanks
Eivind
