One tip: Look for the "done saving" message in the daemon.log and check for
any messages immediately before it that might be related. If nothing jumps
out at you, search the daemon.log for the tape ID listed in the "done saving
"message, filtering out the word "saving". You may find a tape error ("Media
verification failed" or something like that).
Aside from that, you have to look at the log file created on the client for
clues. There are several things that can trigger an exit code of 255.
