NW 7.4.4 and McAfee 8.5 issues?

Post NW 7.4.4 and McAfee 8.5 issues? 
I have to ask this, as an EMC engineer brought this up. Since only 2
sites are POSSIBLY seeing this issue, we can't say for sure.

Are there other sites out there running 7.4.4 (on Windows) and using
McAfee Virusscan Enterprise 8.5.0i??

Post NW 7.4.4 and McAfee 8.5 issues? 
An update on this issue - we have become the 2nd site (that EMC is aware
of) that is reporting this issue. Last night, we disabled McAfee
antivirus on our backup server, and had the 1st error free backup since
upgrading to 7.4.4.

Now that we know the cause of all of our problems, we will be working
towards a solution.

If anyone else is having the same problem (7.4.4 plus McAfee 8.5),
please open a case with EMC support.

We could be a 3rd site. We've had problems for a good while now, indexes not writing, EDL tapes hanging up, RPC errors, etc. We tried upgrading McAfee to 8.7, that was worse so far.

Anyone seen anything "official" on this yet? All I can get is anecdotal.

Win 2008 64 bit, Networker 7.4.4 and McAfee 8.5.0i (til a few days ago)

2 servers, 400+ clients, problems on both.

Hi there, we have recently upgraded to Networker 7.4Sp5, and use Mcafee 8.5 and are now experiencing the same issues as mentioned below.

I can't find anything official stating hotfixes/workarounds, does anyone else know of any?

We are running Windows 2003sp2, Networker 7.4SP5 with Mcafee 8.5.0i.

2 Servers, 600+ clients, and have problems on both.

At present, we've had to disable McAfee temporarily in order to get some successfull backups.

Welcome to my world, as I spent 4 months working on this with both McAfee and EMC.

If you use Networker Procedure Generator there is now a section devoted to this. Check out the KB articles on McAfee.

You basically exclude the Networker directory from being scanned during backups, and a couple of other things.

Let me know if you still have problems. We finally got ours solved, but it still runs slower than when it was on 7.2.2

From the procedure generator:
Antivirus considerations
When performing backups of Windows machines running antivirus software, undesirable behaviors occur when the antivirus software is not tuned for backup environments.
1. Configure the Antivirus avoid scanning files which are opened for backup:
 Uncheck Opened for Backup in the Advanced Auto-Protect options for Norton Antivirus.
 McAfee Knowledgebase article KB53787 provides information for McAfee 8.7i.
 McAfee Knowledgebase article KB53781 provides information for McAfee 8.0i and 8.5i.
2. Configure Antivirus software to exclude the monitoring of NetWorker bin directory (C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin) and advanced file type device directories:
 For Norton Antivirus, Norton knowledgebase article provides details on how to configure an exclusions list.
 For McAfee, McAfee knowledgebase article KB50998 provides details on how to configure exclusions.
