Post [Off topic] NetWorker usage survey
Hi everyone,

I suspect a number of people on the mailing list visit my NetWorker blog from time to time, so I'm throwing this question out to the list.

I'm trying to gather an understanding of the basics of as many NetWorker environments as possible to help planning for future articles. If you're interested in participating, please feel free to visit:

http://nsrd.info/blog/2010/03/11/networker-survey/

The survey results are anonymous (you can optionally fill in your details, but I'm not at all polling for this), and should take less than 3 minutes to fill in.

Cheers, and thanks in advance to those who choose to participate.

Cheers,

Preston.

Preston,

One of the shortest surveys - good, mind sharing the results with the list?

Thanks,
Sami

Was surprised to see that DiskBackup was not on the list of modules in use (or at least asking for what tier/size you use).

As a (now former!) AlphaStor user, it would have been interesting to know how many use(d) either that, and/or other library management / consolidation utilities, such as ACSLS. I'll admit that this would be slightly skewed as the library type may force you to use one of these products (i.e. SL8500 requires an ACSLS server).

I didn't specifically think of asking about what sort of storage options were in use in relation to disk backup vs vtl vs ptl, etc., but it's a good point, it would be interesting to see. I might aim to ask some questions around this in a month or two; once the results of the survey are in and I've posted a summary onto the list, if people think it's worthwhile to periodically collate usage information I'll aim to do a storage options survey in a while as well.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Cheers,

Preston.

Post [Off topic] NetWorker usage survey
Hi folks,

I thought I'd pop a reminder through about the NetWorker usage survey I'm currently running on the NetWorker blog. The direct link to it is:

http://nsrd.info/blog/2010/03/11/networker-survey/

So far there's been almost 150 respondents, which is great, but I know we can get more. It's only 9 (multiple choice) questions, and should take less than 3 minutes to complete. I'll keep the survey open until Saturday 21 March Australian time, and will update the list with the results of the survey as soon as I've finished compiling them.

As a reminder: the survey can be filled out completely anonymously.

Since EMC keep an eye on the list, you can be sure that this is a way of providing some additional feedback to EMC about what versions and modules are collectively being used, etc.

Cheers,

Preston.
