OpenVMS Clients for 6.2 / 8.2IA64

Post OpenVMS Clients for 6.2 / 8.2IA64
Server: NW 7.1.2 on Windows 2003 SE - Patches: pa66936

We have 2 OpenVMS clients that I seem to be unable to obtain client
packages for. The first is an OpenVMS Alpha server running OVMS 6.2 The
second is an OpenVMS Itainium-64 (IA64) running OVMS 8.2

When I attempt to install the current 6.0D client on the 6.2 client, I
receive the following error messages:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
tbird_system$ product install /source=SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSMGR.DOWNLOAD]
_Product: *
%PCSI-E-PDFFIL, the following errors are in file TBIRD$DKC0:[SYS0.]

104 end product ;
%PCSI-E-PDFSTR, PRODUCT statement must be the only statement at the
outermost le vel %PCSI-E-S_OPFAIL, operation failed %PCSIUI-E-ABORT, fatal
error encountered - operation terminated
------------------------------------------------------------------

The IA-64 client install attempt stops as soon as it detects the non-alpha
platform.

Are client packages available for these platforms and if so, how do I
obtain copies of them??

I sent this same info to Legato Support, but have not heard back from them
after 4 hours??

Thanks,

Post OpenVMS Clients for 6.2 / 8.2IA64
NetWorker for OpenVMS on Alpha only support Version 7.0 and above. The
reason is that it uses functionality not introduced until V7. If you wish to
back up the 6.2 system, you'll need to yse the WumpusWare NOC (NetWorker
OpenVMS Client).

As for the Itanium client, it got as far as beta test... but when asked, no
one responded so it never came out of beta. I do know the client worked (as
I had an Itanium to test against) but the Storage Node had issues. Now,
there is a portability kit for Itanium that, I think, enables you to run
Alpha code in emultaion. You may want to try that.

I have blind copied someone in Legato who will be able to get you a better
response.

BTW, I used to be the product manager until December and I know that this
information is current and up to date.

Hope that helps
