Savegroup never finishes

Post Savegroup never finishes
Hi all,

Could someone help me with this. NW 7.1, Red Hat 9 is the backup server &
Windows 2000 Client. The backups happen throughout the night but they do
not get terminated. The group keeps running throughout untill aborted. It
does not write the indexes also.

Regards,
Anuj

Check the log files in /nsr/logs on both client and server. Make sure that
both clients and server have their ethernet cards set correctly, not set
to auto-negotiate.

What is left running in the morning? It could be getting hung on one
client. We need more info.

Login to your Windows Client and make sure that there are no "stale" save or
even savefs processes running. Also if it is an MSSQL Backup with the BSM
make sure that there are no "nsrsqlsv.exe" processes still running. We have
seen it where the process for a group i.e. "savegrp some-group -all -the
-flags" is still running on our Linux NetWorker server. However if you look
at the status in ANY GUI it says it is either stopped or failed. So check
for stale processes on the client. Kill them and then try and see why it is
hanging.
