Post Server Upgrade
Hey Guys,

=20

I'm getting ready to move from a Sun E450 w/ Solaris 2.6 to a Sun V880
w/ Solaris 9, and I'm trying to make sure I've got my steps down.

=20

I'm not upgrading the software right now, so it is staying at 6.1.3 for
a month or so until I've got and kinks worked out of the hardware/OS
upgrade.

=20

STK Silo with SAN attached 9940B drives. Index devices are also SAN
based.

=20

=20

1. nsrck
2. savegroup -O
3. remove the drives from networker(not sure if I should remove the
silo)
4. change the zoning on the SAN(the indexes and drives are all SAN
based)
5. change the new servers name/IP to the same as the old server
6. install Networker on the new server
7. add the drives(9940b) to the silo on the new server
8. nsrck
9. edit all the pools to use the drives
10. test some restores

=20

Any input would be helpful.

=20

Thanks,

=20

Joel

You might have to redo the jukebox config too, since tape devices might
have changed device paths. If your HBA detects the jukebox that is. Beware
of SUNs new JNI HBAs. :)

Hey Oscar,

They STK9310 is accessed completely over IP, so I think since my IP and
hostname are not changing that I should be able to leave it there. If I
have problems though I'll delete and recreate it.

Thanks!
