Vsphere Backups VADP or not?

Post Vsphere Backups VADP or not?
Question for anyone out there using VMware Vsphere..

We're currently using a mixture of traditional Networker client backups and Esxpress image backups for our virtual machines.
Will be migrating to Vsphere 5 in the near future so have to decide on what path we take with our virtual machine backups.

Thinking about upgrading from Networker 7.5 up to 7.6.2 and using VADP, anyone out there using VADP backups, what do you think?

Thanks

Andy

I'm at 7.6.2, but vSphere 4.1 (hopefully v5 later in the year), and
currently I am doing "traditional" backups (i.e., treating each VM as a
separate NW client, exactly as I do the physical clients). So I would be
interested in this topic, as well.

We are using VADP and it works fine in vSphere 4.1 environment. I would recommend to you to generate the procedure from Procedure Generator and take care about the requirements in order to obtain also a good performance.

Has EMC NetWorker finished programming the VADP backup method properly?

Some vendors are talking about application aware VADP snapshots (SQL and
Exchange application can be backed up Full and non-full).

Is EMC NetWorker doing that today?
