Windows Archive Attribute

Post Windows Archive Attribute
Hi. Gotta quiz for you all. Are the following statements true or false?:

1. When a Windows box gets a Full backup, everything gets backed up regardless of what has the archive attribute set.

2. When a Windows box gets an incremental/differential backup, only files/folders with the archive attribute set get backed up.

Thanks!

True. When this backup is completed, Networker will toggle the archive
attribute.

True, only this time Windows doesn't toggle the archive attribute. So,
if you do a full, change a file, do an incremental, then do three more
incrementals it will backup that changed file four times. Only the next
full will toggle the archive bit on the files.

You can search the archives for a NSR_ARCHIVE_something environment
variable you can set on the client to make it respect file timestamps
instead of the archive bit. There are some scenarios where this is a
good idea, and some where's it not. This has been hashed over in the
archives.

The system environment variable has to be created and set
to: "NSR_AVOID_ARCHIVE" to YES.

And you have to reboot the machine after setting the system environment
variable.
Otherwise it won't be inherited from the SCM.
