Tim,

Look at the TOCMGmtclass parameter of the 'generate backupset' command.

Look at the copygroup for the node you are trying to create a backupset
for. The error is indicating that the value for "TOC destination" is
empty or invalid. The backupset will still be created, but there won't be
any table of contents. You need to point that to a storage pool. a fast
disk-based one is preferable. (This will need to be read when you browse
the backupset's files in the future)

run "help generate backupset" and go through each parameter. (Your next
email is missing the "backup_set_name_prefix" I think)

Shawn

Thanks shaw,

These are emergency backupsets we are running because we can't lose any data, so were not looking to do a TOC for them now. I just need to create them for several servers.

Thanks, yes the backup_set_name_prefix was missing from the command. I finally got the command (below) however the backup set failed

Generate backupset govsrv3x1 Boveofront31Bkup devclass=lto3class scratch=yes retention=nolimit (SESSION: 1304679)

ANR3503E Generation of backup set for GOVSRV3X1 asBoveofront31Bkup.709804709 (data type File) failed.

There are probably other log messages between the start of the command and
the failure message indicating a possible cause of the error.

Thanks shawn,

Yes, I did find some of the following type messages >>> ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume B00013L3 - mountfailed.

Not sure if that was the exact problem that caused the backup set to fail but I finally got it to work.

Thanks again

Post Generate backupset error issue
Hi Jim,

Thanks no it didn't work ANR3503E Generation of backup set for GOVSRV3X1 as Beverlysapton3X1BKUP.709804709 (data type File) failed.(SESSION: 1304679, PROCESS: 39951)

I used the following command

GENERATE BACKUPSET govsrv3X1 Beverlysapton3X1BKUP 1 devclass=lto3class scratch=yes retention=nolimit nametype=FSID (SESSION:

I did find several messages like this below (none had the session/process number of the backup set

01/18/12 10:10:18 ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume B00013L3 - mountfailed. (SESSION: 1303875, PROCESS: 39924)

However we restarted the backup set again using the following command (it worked successfully)

generate backupset govsrv3x1 Beverlysapton3X1BKUP devclass=lto3class scratch=yes retention=nolimit

(notice we left off the >>nametype=FSID

Thanks
