I'm reviewing our TSM environment and the recent changes (from 5.5. to 6.x) have created relabilty issues.
Has anyone done a migration from TSM on AIX to FDR/UPSTREAM on zOS?
We already have a z10 with direct FICON attachment to a DS8100 with OSA express cards fro TCP/IP traffic. As legacy apps are being migrated off I'm looking to re-use the z10 as a backup server for our enterprise.
Is FDR/UPSTREAM easier/cheaper to manage than TSM? I'm wondering if FDR/UPSTEAM scales better then TSM?

Hi Bob, Yes, you can do the backup as you wanted.. I have about 8 yrs experience with FDR/Upstream but you can also contact Pat Fitzsimmons at Innovation Data Processing as he is the product manager at 973-890-7300. Not knowing your environment makes it hard to think about costs at this early juncture.
You can get more at WWW.FDR.COM as well.
My email is Whiteb16@aol.com if you need any other questions answered.
