Backup stg runs too long ...what may be the possible causes other than the following .... 1.Disk pool size is very less compared to actual data backed up.. 2.waiting for the required tape mount for the backup stg process which was utilised by some other process. 3.non availabity of mount points ...

Hemi,

You've got to give more information about your environment. TSM Version, OS platform, etc. Also explain what "too long" is. You're just not giving anyone enough information for them to even think of an answer.

My backup to copy storage ( data copy from primary pool to copy storage pool )takes too long which affects the other process to stop ....My TSM version is 5.4.2.0

I increased my storage pool backup to maxprocess=2. It cut several
hours off of my processing time.

Can we have a little more information? Such as how large is the
disk pool / tape pool your trying to backup? Are you going from tape to
tape or disk to tape? Are there backup sessions that appear to be hung
(I have that issue at times that delays disk to tape backups)? They
would appear as sessions that are idle for an excessively long time.
