Firstly apoligioes for my ignorance.
I am taking over our backup management at work and after looking at how our policies are set-up I think there is probably a better way of doing it, sure thats always the way but it seems un-necassirily complex.
We are using netvault 8.2.2 and a large VTL (3Tb) and a full back-up of all our file, mail and AD systems is around 2.35Tb.
We are extending the VTL to around 7Tb but most of this will be taken up with adding our Db server and various project servers, which are currently backed up straight to tape.
We have around 60 project and application servers that require backing up, some Windows and some linux boxes.
So my questions are:
Is there standard backup models I can compare to see what suits our needs best, and if so is there a URL where I can see these.
In my ignorance am looking at configuring back ups using general policies: back up to VTL; Windows Back up to Tape; Linux Back up to tape; VTL Back-up to tape, then defining exclusions via ansi text files on each local machine, would this work (or even make sense).
Anyway any help gratefully recieved even if it's look at this URL
Thanks
