We are using Netvault to backup our HP9000. We are using a Dell PowerVault tape library which used IBM LTO-5 drives. We have one file that will not successfully restore from the LTO-5. If we back the file up to an LTO-2 tape drive, it will restore just fine. We contacted Dell and they replaced the drives, but we are still having the problem.
The file is a rootvolume and other rootvolumes backup and restore just fine. I thought maybe the file could be corrupt but I don't understand why we would be able to back it up and restore it from the LTO-2 drives but not the LTO-5 (unless the LTO-5 has some built in error checking).
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? support has pretty put us on the back burner because it doesn't seem to be happening to other users.
